Our top tips on how to optimize your rules to improve customer engagement with your program

Improving customer engagement through activity rules involves implementing strategies that encourage interaction and participation with your brand and your loyalty program. This article outlines activity rules you can set up to boost your customer engagement and ways for your customers to earn points in various ways outside of making purchases.

Refer a friend

Not only do referrals increase customer engagement but they are a great way to increase customer acquisition. Customers acquired through referrals spend 200% more than the average customer! Referred customers are also between 16 and 24% more loyal when referred by a current customer. We recommend providing more points for those existing customers in higher tiers as this will help incentivize them to refer more customers. If a referred customer is referred by a current customer who is in a higher tier, the referred customer is more likely to have the same spending habits!

Referrals also allow you to thank the current customer with additional points. New customers will then get a discount voucher or free shipping to use in your store. It is a great way to gain new customers while keeping your existing customers engaged!

Reward birthdays

Provide your customers with extra points to make their birthday even more special! We recommend giving your customers an amount of points that is equal to the cost of an existing reward so they can redeem a reward straight away! This is a great way to encourage repeat purchases and also a good touch point for re-engaging customers who are at risk or have not shopped with your brand in a while.

We would also recommend emailing your customers wishing them happy birthday with a ‘call to action’ to use their points. You can find some great examples of email in our Pinterest board.

Tip: Customers have disposable income on their Birthday! Using a reward incentivizes them to your store, once here, they'll be more inclined to spend!

Social media following

These rules are a good way to increase your store's social awareness and offer your customers additional ways to engage with your loyalty program. Increased social presence will make your brand more trustworthy and attract new customers! Social media rules are also a super easy way for your customers to earn points however we do recommend not giving your customers too many for this rule! You can use our points calculator to work out how many pre-purchase points to give before your customer has even made a purchase.

Social media is also a great way to showcase your program so your social media followers can sign up for your program and also earn points for being part of your social media followers! Newsletter signup

Incentivize your customers to sign up for your newsletter. By doing this you will be able to provide your customers with updates on your latest products and offers! The more customers sign up for your newsletter, the more customers you can email to advertize your program and increase your brand's community!

Reviews

Reviews are a great way to influence future purchases. Research has shown that 92% of buyers are more likely to purchase a product after reading a trusted review. Giving points for your customers to leave a review is a great way to increase reviews as well as giving an incentivize to your customers.

Tip: By using this activity rule your products will have an increased credibility within your customer base. This is proven to help boost purchases which will lead to more customers signing up for your program!

Bonus points for purchases

This rule is a great way to promote new items in stock or to encourage purchases of items that are not selling well or new product releases. You can customize how many more points a customer will earn by purchasing from a specific collection and/or product in your store. You can also tailor this rule per tier so higher tier customers can get an exclusive amount of points for shopping within a certain collection or a certain product.

Tip: Make sure you make customers aware that this offer is available to increase customer activity, this can be via social media or email!

Create your own special rule!
