Social following rules are included from our Small Business plan upwards, and available as a Shopify add-on below that. Check our pricing page to see where your plan sits. If they are not in your Create rule list, you can add them from Enhance LoyaltyLion.

Overview
Four activity rules give your customers points for following you on social media: Like a Facebook page, Follow a user on Instagram, Follow a user on X and Follow a user on TikTok. They are a cheap way to grow the audience you already post to, and they give your customers something to do in the program that is not buying.
All four work on every platform we support.
How these rules work
A customer sees the rule on your loyalty page, clicks it, and we open your profile in a new window. The points land as soon as they click.
We award the points for the click, not for the follow. Social networks do not tell us whether someone actually followed you, so a customer who opens your profile and closes it again still earns the points. Keep that in mind when you decide how many to give.
Two things follow from that:
A customer can earn from each rule once, ever. Unfollowing and following again does not earn the points a second time.
The points are approved straight away. There is no approval period on these rules, so they are available to spend immediately.
Like a Facebook page
Go to Program, then Rules, then Create rule.
Choose Like a Facebook page.
Under Configuration, put your page address in Facebook page URL. It does not have to be your store's own page, so you can point it at a blog or a sister brand.
Under Customer gets, set the number of Points.
Fill in the Display section, covered below.
Click Create in the top right.

Follow a user on Instagram
Go to Program, then Rules, then Create rule.
Choose Follow a user on Instagram.
Under Configuration, put your account name in Instagram username to follow. The field already shows the @, so leave it off.
Under Customer gets, set the number of Points.
Fill in the Display section, covered below.
Click Create in the top right.
Instagram is the one you can use more than once. You can create as many Instagram follow rules as you like, one per account, where Facebook, X and TikTok are limited to a single rule each.

Follow a user on X
Go to Program, then Rules, then Create rule.

Settings all four rules share
Points
Set how many points the follow is worth under Customer gets. If your program has tiers, you set a figure for each tier rather than one for everyone.
Keep these rules low value in terms of points. The points are given for a click we cannot verify, so they are the easiest points in your program to earn.
Title and notification
Both come filled in, and you can change either.
Title: how the rule appears to customers on your loyalty page. It starts as "Like us on Facebook", "Follow us on Instagram", "Follow us on X" or "Follow us on TikTok".
Notification: what a customer sees when they earn the points, starting as "{{points}} points for following us on Instagram" and the equivalent for the others. {{points}} is replaced with the number they actually receive, so you only write the wording around it.
FAQ
Do you check that the customer actually followed us?
No. Social networks do not pass that back to us, so we award the points when a customer clicks the rule and we open your profile. This is why we suggest keeping the points low.
Can a customer earn the points twice?
No. Each of these rules can be completed once per customer, for good. Unfollowing and following again changes nothing.
Can I reward follows on more than one account?
On Instagram, yes: create one rule per account. Facebook, X and TikTok allow one rule each per store.
The social rules are not in my Create rule list.
They are included from our Small Business plan upwards. On a plan below that, add them from Enhance LoyaltyLion, or see our pricing page for what each plan includes.
Can I add a description under a social rule?
Not on these four. The Description field is only offered on some rules, and the social follow rules are not among them, so a customer sees the title and the points alone.
