You can now award additional points to your customers when they purchase from a specific collection on your store.

This rule gives bonus points to the customer in addition to the standard ‘make a purchase’ rule when they purchase an item (or more) from a particular collection. You can use this rules to promote a new collection or to encourage purchases on collections that are not selling well.

You have the option to ‘Multiply by quantity’ meaning if the customer purchases more than one would you want to award them the bonus points for each or only on the first item.

Setting up the rule

1. Points: choose how many points you would like to award to your customer for purchasing an item from this collection.

Note: This rule gives bonus points to the customer in addition to the standard ‘make a purchase’ rule when they purchase an item (or more) from a particular collection

2. Multiply points by quantity: You have the option to ‘Multiply by quantity’. This allows you to decide if you would like to award points for each individual line item in the basket that belongs to the collection. If this is turned off, the customer gets rewarded once per order. If it is turned on the customer gets rewarded for each individual item that belongs to a collection.

3. Collection ID: enter your Shopify collection ID and click on "Find collection".

4. Title: this is how the activity will appear to customers in the Loyalty panel.

5. Notification: this is seen by customers when they receive points. The #{{points}} text will be replaced with the actual amount of points awarded.

6. Description: this is seen by the customer in the loyalty panel when they click on the rule.

FAQ

Q: How are the points multiplied?

The points for the collection rule are not multiplied by price but by item.
So if

  • you have the collection rule set to 100 for anything in collection X

  • you have a purchase rule for 1pt/$

and you buy something for $5 in that collection you'll get 100 + (1*5) = 105 (for example)

Q: Will this rule backdate and give bonus points to customers for purchases made from the collection before I enabled the rule?

No it will not. However, if you are using this rule alongside our reward historic purchases feature, it is important to know the following:

  • When rewarding customers for historic purchases, we will use your current rule setup in order to calculate how many points we need to give to this customer.

  • If this current rule set up includes your "purchase from a specific collection rule", it is possible that customers who return to your store and create a full account, will be rewarded with bonus points, even if the purchase from this collection was made before you enabled the rule.
