Overview
Every voucher code we generate starts with a prefix. By default that prefix is LL-. You can replace it with one of your own on the rewards that generate codes:
Discount
Redeem points at checkout
Free shipping
Free product (voucher) and Product discount (voucher)
Collection fixed discount and Collection percentage discount
Active subscription discount
Gift card, Custom, Custom voucher, Free product (seamless) and Free product (subscriber) rewards have no prefix field. Gift cards are the one that surprises people: Shopify issues the gift card code, so there is nothing for us to prefix.
A custom prefix makes your loyalty codes easy to tell apart from your other discount codes, which is useful on your own reporting and for your finance team.
How to change a voucher prefix
Log in to your LoyaltyLion account
Go to Program, then Rewards
Open an existing reward, or click Create reward and pick any reward that uses voucher codes, such as Discount
In the Discount code section, enter your prefix in the Prefix field
Check the Example code underneath, which shows what your codes will look like as you type
Click Save changes on an existing reward, or Create on a new one
Codes your customers claimed before the change keep the prefix they were created with. Only newly claimed codes use the new one.
What a prefix can contain
A prefix can be up to 10 characters long.
On Shopify, you can use any characters you like, including symbols and emoji. On BigCommerce, Magento and custom platforms, a prefix can only contain letters, numbers, hyphens and underscores.

Can I change the prefix on an existing reward, or do I need a new one?
You can change it on an existing reward. Open the reward from Program, then Rewards, change the Prefix field and click Save changes. Codes already claimed keep their original prefix.
Can I set a different prefix for particular customers, such as influencers?
No. A prefix is set on the reward, so every customer who claims that reward gets the same one. If you want a separate prefix for a group of customers, create a separate reward for them.
