Why LoyaltyLion and Yotpo?
Yotpo collects and displays product reviews for your store. With the Yotpo review rule, we give your customers loyalty points when they leave a review on Yotpo, so you collect more reviews and give your customers another reason to come back.
How to set up the Yotpo review rule
You connect Yotpo from the rule itself, with an App Key and a Secret Key from your Yotpo account. There is nothing to install separately.
In LoyaltyLion, go to Program, then Rules, and click Create rule.
Select Leave a review via Yotpo.
In Yotpo, follow Yotpo's API documentation to find your App Key and create a Secret Key.
Back in LoyaltyLion, under Yotpo setup, paste your App Key and your Secret Key into their fields.
Set the points your customers earn for a review, and a limit on how often each customer can earn them. The limit is required for this rule.
Add a title and description for how the rule appears on your loyalty page.
Click Create rule. The rule appears in your rules list, and we start checking Yotpo for new reviews.
We only award points for reviews written after you create the rule. Reviews your customers left before then don't earn points.
We recommend telling your customers about the points in your Yotpo Mail After Purchase email, the review request Yotpo sends after an order. For example, add the line "As a thank you, you'll earn X points".
Which reviews earn points
The Yotpo review rule awards points for a published review when both of these are true:
Yotpo marks the reviewer as a verified buyer.
We can match the reviewer to one of your customers, by their email address or their customer ID in your store.
Reviews Yotpo doesn't mark as from a verified buyer don't earn points, and neither do reviews we can't match to a customer.
We check Yotpo for new reviews every 5 minutes, so points usually arrive a few minutes after a review is published. We pause checking while your loyalty program is paused.
Keeping the rule running
We check your Yotpo keys when we collect reviews, not when you save the rule. If the keys are wrong, stop working, or your Yotpo account is removed, we switch the Yotpo review rule off, and your customers stop earning points for reviews until you turn it back on.
To fix it:
Go to Program, then Rules, and edit the Yotpo review rule.
Paste a new App Key and Secret Key.
Turn the rule back on and save it.
We never show your Secret Key again after you save it. When you edit the rule for another reason, leave both key fields blank to keep the keys you already have.

Which reviews can earn points?
Published reviews from reviewers Yotpo marks as verified buyers, where we can match the reviewer to one of your customers. Most come from Yotpo's Mail After Purchase email.
Can customers earn points for reviews left on my site?
Only if Yotpo marks the reviewer as a verified buyer and we can match them to one of your customers. Reviews that don't meet both conditions don't earn points.
Why have my customers stopped earning points for Yotpo reviews?
Check that the Yotpo review rule is still switched on. We switch it off when your Yotpo keys stop working. See Keeping the rule running to fix it.
