Overview
Reward your customers with points for their verified reviews by integrating Loox with LoyaltyLion. With this integration, you can offer points based on customers’ reviews to incentivise honest and helpful reviews.
Why integrate LoyaltyLion with Loox?
Loox is a photo reviews app for Shopify merchants that makes it easy to collect visual reviews from customers and build a credible, trustworthy storefront.
The LoyaltyLion and Loox integration lets you reward customers for leaving high-quality verified reviews. Using configurable modifiers and quality gates, you can incentivize the kind of user-generated content (UGC) that drives conversions, such as detailed write-ups, photos, and videos, rather than rewarding all reviews equally.
Most loyalty programs offer a flat reward for any review submission, regardless of quality. This results in low-effort reviews being over-rewarded, high-quality reviews being under-rewarded, and points budgets being spent inefficiently.

Installing the integration
The Loox integration is primarily connected through Loox. In LoyaltyLion, if you go to Integrations > Loox, this will bring you to the Loox Integration Portal.
From there, you can go to the Integrations tab in your Loox portal and click Activate Integration to connect Loox and LoyaltyLion.
How it works
In LoyaltyLion, once Loox has been integrated, you will see the option to create the Leave a Review via Loox rule in the Rules page.
Event triggers
When a customer interacts with a verified review in Loox, the following event triggers are sent to LoyaltyLion. You can create earning rules based on any of these events:
New photo review submitted
New video review submitted
New text review submitted
Review published or unpublished
Review deleted by customer
Review updated by customer (including media additions)
Each event includes the following data: the customer's Shopify Customer ID, their email address, and the star rating they submitted.
Note:
Publish and unpublish status is only reported for individual review changes.
If reviews are published or unpublished in bulk from the Loox Manage Reviews page, those status changes will not be sent to LoyaltyLion.
Reward calculation
When a customer submits a verified review via Loox:
The review data is sent to LoyaltyLion.
Your configured rule evaluates the review.
The reward is calculated based on the base reward, any applicable modifiers, and whether gating conditions are met.
Example configuration:
Base reward: 50 points
+25 points per photo (e.g. 3 photos = +75 points)
+100 points for specific products
Gate: review must include at least one photo
The total reward is calculated automatically based on the review content. Remember that a review can only contain one media type (e.g. photo or video but not both).
Available modifiers
With Review Rewards Modifiers, you can set a base reward for submitting a verified review, apply bonus rewards based on quality signals, and add gating rules so only qualifying reviews earn points. Rewards can be issued as points or alternatives such as vouchers, and everything is configured within a single earning rule.

Modifiers and rewards can also be configured per customer tier, allowing you to offer better rewards to VIP customers and encourage progression through your loyalty program.

The Loox integration works by awarding points to customers who leave a verified review through the Loox Review Request email.
Note: Reviews submitted through the "Write a Review" button or a direct review link are not verified and therefore not reported to LoyaltyLion by Loox, meaning points will not be awarded for those.
FAQs
Q: My customer left a review, but didn't get points?
Only verified reviews trigger points in LoyaltyLion. A verified review is one submitted by a customer via a Loox Review Request email, connected to a verified order. Reviews submitted through the "Write a Review" button, a direct review link, or imported from other sources are not reported to LoyaltyLion by Loox, and points will not be awarded for those.
Q: Can I reward different point amounts for different review types?
Yes. Loox reports a separate activity trigger for each review type (photo, video, and text-only), so you can create distinct rules in LoyaltyLion and assign different point values to each. You can also use modifiers within a single rule to award bonus points for photos or videos on top of a base reward.
Q: Will a customer earn points if they update their review to add a photo or video?
Yes. When a review is updated - including when media is added - Loox sends a separate update trigger to LoyaltyLion. You can choose whether to reward this activity by creating a rule for the review updated event.
Q: Will customers who submitted reviews before my earning rule was active receive points retroactively?
No. Points are only awarded for reviews submitted after the earning rule is active in LoyaltyLion.
Q: Can I reward customers for submitting multiple photos for one review?
Yes. You can use the "Bonus per photo" modifier to offer additional points for each photo submitted with a review, up to a maximum of 5 photos per review.
