Double points promotions allow your customers to earn double the amount of loyalty points for each £/$/€1 spent with you for a time limited period, during Black Friday weekend, or to promote a new collection launch.

For example, if you usually reward customers with 5 points per $1 spent, they will be able to earn 10 points per $1 spent during the promo period, allowing customers to see the value of your loyalty program more quickly.

Using double points is a great way to re-engage your customers who might be at risk of churning or win some of your customers back!

Benefits of running a double points promotion

Running a double points promotion is a great way to engage your customers! Double points promotions can be used to:

  • Drive loyalty members back to your store to make a purchase

  • Drive guest customers to your store to earn double points on their purchase as well as any previous purchases as per your reward historic purchases setting

  • Reward customers in a certain tier by running a 2x or 3x points promotion just for them as a tier benefit

  • Allow customers to earn 2x points during periods where they can't use their loyalty reward vouchers, e.g. during a site-wide sale

  • Allow customers to progress through points-based tiers and reach the next tier more quickly

  • Allow customers to reach enough points for a reward more quickly, and increase your number of redeeming customers!


How to set double points

If you have tiers set up, please follow the steps here instead.

  1. Go to Admin > Manage > View rules

  2. Click Make a purchase

  3. Set the desired amount of points. For example, if on a daily basis your customers get 5 points per $1 spent, this time set it to 10 points for every $1

  4. Save the changes

5. Remember to change the points back after the required time!

Please note, that if you reward historic purchases in your Make a purchase rule, each guest customer who decides to sign up to your program during your double points promotion would also receive double points on their previous purchases.

How to set up double points with tiers set up

  1. Go to Admin > Manage > Manage tiers > Activities

  2. Go to Make a purchase

  3. Set the desired amount of points. For example, if on a daily basis your customers get 5 points per $1 spent, this time set it to 10 points for every $1. You can adjust this as desired for each tier customers are in

  4. Save the changes.

How to set up double points for a certain product/collection

You can also set up a promotion so that customers can earn 2x points when they purchase a certain product or from a certain collection using our Points Modifiers feature.

  • To set this up, Go to Admin > Manage > View rules > Make a purchase > Edit > Add modifier > Select the product or collection > Select '2x points'

  • If you are using tiers, this will automatically apply the 2x promotion at each tier level

If you are using simple components, please note that points modifiers are not currently reflected within points for product and points for cart, however customers will still earn the double points if they are logged in or using the correct email address at the checkout.


Promoting double points weeks

In order to inform your customers about the double points event, you can use:

  • Your store template - adding a banner informing customers about double points at the top of the page 

  • Using your email or SMS marketing software to notify your customers about double points

  • Post about the promotion on social media to notify your customers about double points

FAQ's

Q: Can I schedule a double points promotion?

It's not currently possible to schedule a double points promotion to start and end at a certain date or time. To set up your promotion, you need to go into your settings and save the changes at the start of the promotion period, then change them back at the end of the promotion period.

Q: Does it have to be double points?

No - you can make this 3x points or even 5x points if you're feeling generous!

Q: Do customers get notified when there is a double points promotion?

You will need to promote the 2x points promotion via banners, email, SMS and socials.

Q: Why aren't the double points values appearing in the points for product or points for cart on my website?

If you are using simple components, please note that points modifiers are not currently reflected within points for product and points for cart, however customers will still earn the double points if they are logged in or using the correct email address at the checkout.
