Bonus points rules are included from our Small Business plan upwards, and available as a Shopify add-on below that. Check our pricing page to see where your plan sits. Purchase a product works on Shopify and BigCommerce; Purchase from a specific collection works on Shopify only.

Overview
Two activity rules award bonus points on top of your standard Make a purchase rule:
Purchase a product awards bonus points when a customer buys a particular product, and optionally a particular variant of it.
Purchase from a specific collection awards bonus points when a customer buys any item from a collection you choose.
Use either rule to promote something new, or to encourage purchases of items that are not selling well. Both stack with Make a purchase, so the customer earns the standard points as well as the bonus.
You can have as many of these rules as you need, so there is nothing stopping you running a product rule and a collection rule side by side.
Bonus points on a product
Go to Program, then Rules, then Create rule.
Choose Purchase a product.
Under Product, click Find product and search for the product by name.
Click the product you want. If it has more than one variant, choose the one variant the bonus applies to, or select none to cover every variant, then click Add product. A product with a single variant is added straight away.
Decide whether to tick Multiply points by quantity, covered below.
Under Customer gets, set the number of Points.
Fill in the Display section, covered below.
Click Create in the top right.
Search finds products by name rather than by ID, so you do not need to go to Shopify or BigCommerce first to look one up.
Bonus points on a collection
Go to Program, then Rules, then Create rule.
Choose Purchase from a specific collection.
Under Collection, use Search collections to find and select the collection.
Decide whether to tick Multiply points by quantity, covered below.
Under Customer gets, set the number of Points.
Fill in the Display section, covered below.
Click Create in the top right.
Settings both rules share
Multiply points by quantity
This decides whether the bonus applies per item or per order. Left unticked, the customer earns the bonus once however many qualifying items they buy. Ticked, they earn it for every qualifying item in the basket.
Points
Set how many points the bonus is worth under Customer gets. If your program has tiers, you set a figure for each tier rather than one for everyone, so a bonus can be worth more the further up a customer has climbed.
Approval period
Points are approved after the number of days you set here. Aligning that with your refund policy, for example 14 days, usually works best. Leave it blank and the points are approved as soon as the order is paid.
How refunds affect the bonus: if a customer buys the qualifying item alongside other products and refunds only that item, the bonus points stand. If the whole order is refunded we take the bonus points back, and cancelling an order does the same as long as the points are still pending.
Title, description and notification
Title: how the rule appears to customers on your loyalty page.
Description: what a customer sees when they open the rule on your loyalty page. Optional.
Notification: what a customer sees when they earn the points. {{points}} is replaced with the number they actually receive, so you only write the wording around it.
FAQ
How are the bonus points calculated?
By item, not by price. If a collection rule awards 100 points for collection X, and your Make a purchase rule awards 5 point per $1, then a $5 purchase from that collection earns 125 points: 100 for the bonus and 25 for the purchase.
Does the rule backdate to purchases made before I created it?
No. But if you also use Reward historic purchases, in Program settings then Orders, we work out historic points from your current rules. So a customer who comes back and creates an account may receive bonus points for a qualifying purchase they made before the rule existed.
How do these rules work for guest customers?
If a guest buys the qualifying item and creates an account while the rule is live, they receive the bonus points. If they create an account after the rule is deleted or disabled, they receive only the standard purchase points, subject to your Reward historic purchases setting, and not the bonus.
What happens if I delete or replace the product in my store?
The rule shows Product not found and stops awarding the bonus, because it is pointing at a product that is no longer there. Open the rule, remove the product and pick the new one, then click Update.
