Overview

The Bazaarvoice integration lets you reward shoppers for leaving reviews that are moderated and approved via Bazaarvoice. Unlike the standard review rule, this integration gives you granular control over what gets rewarded and how — so you can drive the exact type of review content that builds trust and improves SEO.

Rewards are only issued once a review reaches Approved status in Bazaarvoice. If a review is still in moderation, the shopper sees a pending message and receives their points once the review is approved.

Getting started

Because of the current Bazaarvoice API requirements, installation is a manual process handled by the Bazaarvoice integrations team.

To get set up: email the Bazaarvoice integrations team to request the integration and access to API keys. Once you have these keys, the LoyaltyLion team can help get you set up.

Creating a Bazaarvoice Review rule

Once the integration is live, you can create a Bazaarvoice review rule — a significant upgrade over the standard review rule. Here's what you can configure:

  • Bonus points for specific products

    • Award extra points when a shopper reviews a specific product or range of products — useful for driving reviews on new launches or key SKUs.

  • Bonus points for photos and videos

    • Incentivise richer UGC by awarding bonus points when a review includes photos or videos. Choose between a fixed bonus (e.g. +50 points for any photo) or points per asset (e.g. +25 points per photo uploaded).

  • Qualifying review thresholds

    • Restrict which reviews qualify for rewards by setting minimum requirements — such as a minimum review length (word or character count) or a minimum number of photos or videos. This helps ensure only meaningful reviews are incentivised.

  • Per-tier configuration

    • All of the above options can be configured per loyalty tier — letting you reward higher-tier members more generously, or unlock additional earning opportunities as shoppers progress.

How rewards are issued

LoyaltyLion reads the review activity from Bazaarvoice and issues rewards only once a review reaches Approved status. Reviews that are pending moderation, rejected, or removed do not trigger a reward.

When a shopper submits a review that is still in moderation, they will see a message letting them know their reward is pending:

"Thanks for your review. Rewards will be issued once approved."

Once approved, the reward moves from pending to earned, and points appear in the shopper's balance across all LoyaltyLion touchpoints.
