Order-based tiers move customers up based on the number of qualifying orders they've placed, rather than how much they've spent or how many points they've earned. It's an alternative to spend-based and points-based tiers, and works the same way once set up — customers move up as soon as they qualify, and are notified on-site.
Setting a minimum order value
When you set up an order-based tier, you can set a minimum order value. This is the amount an order needs to reach to count as a qualifying order toward a customer's tier progress, so occasional small orders don't move someone up a tier on their own.
Choosing what the minimum is measured against
You can choose whether the minimum order value is measured against:
Order total — the full amount the customer paid, including shipping and tax
Product subtotal — the value of the products in the order only, excluding shipping and tax
For example, with a minimum order value of £50: if you measure by order total, a customer buying £49 of products and paying £6 shipping would qualify, because their order total is £55.
If you measure by product subtotal instead, that same order would not qualify, because the products themselves only came to £49.
By default, the minimum is measured by order total.
Note: once your tiers have launched, this setting is locked in. If you need to change it later, we'll need to reset and relaunch your tiers, so it's worth deciding which basis you want before you launch.
What customers see
On the loyalty page, customers can see how close they are to reaching the next order-based tier, including the minimum order value they need to hit on each order, for example:
"Place 2 more orders worth at least £50 to reach Gold"
This is available in every language your loyalty page supports.
