Magento 2: Importing generated codes into LoyaltyLion

Written by Jason Leader

Who is this guide for?

If you're a Magento merchant without a working API connection between LoyaltyLion and your Magento store, you may need to create voucher codes in your store manually before we can issue them to your program members.

How-to guide

  1. Create or identify a reward in LoyaltyLion you want to create vouchers for

In this case, we'll import vouchers for a €5 reward:

2. In your Magento admin view, head to Marketing > Cart Price Rules and Add New Rule

Key fields:

  • Ensure you pick the magento Website that matches your loyalty program

  • Enable the rule for all relevant customer groups

  • Under Coupon, choose "specific coupon" and then "Use auto generation"

  • Uses per Coupon and Uses per Customer should both be 1

  • From should start with the current date

  • Leave to blank

  • Public in RSS feed should be false

Example:

Under actions, set up the discount to match the reward in LoyaltyLion.

Key fields:

  • Set apply based on the discount type (fixed amount or percentage)

  • Discount amount

    • For fixed discounts, this matches the currency discount you're giving - e.g, '5' for €5 off

    • For percent discounts, this matches the discount % you're giving - e.g '10' for a 10% discount

  • Discount subsequent rules should be true

In this case, we'll set up the price rule to give £5 off:

3. Generate coupons

First, save the new price rule. Then you can generate a number of coupons in Magento under Manage Coupon Codes:

4. Export codes and import into your LoyaltyLion reward

After generating coupons, export a CSV.

Edit your CSV to retain just the coupon code column.

You can now import this into LoyaltyLion. Head to your reward > manage codes > Import codes into LoyaltyLion:
