Overview
Loyalty Passes bring your loyalty program into your customers' digital wallets. Compatible with both Apple Wallet and Google Wallet, a Loyalty Pass gives your customers instant access to their points balance, tier status, and loyalty information: right from their phone, no app required.
How can Loyalty Passes help you?
Your customers are on their phones, so your loyalty program should be too. Loyalty Passes meet your customers where they already are, making it effortless for them to stay engaged with your program between purchases.
With a Loyalty Pass in their wallet, customers get real-time updates on their points balance and tier status, push notifications when they're near one of your stores, and a seamless experience that keeps your brand front of mind. The result? More engaged customers, more return visits, and a loyalty program that works harder for your business.
How do you set up Loyalty Passes?
From the LoyaltyLion Dashboard, click on Loyalty Pass.
This will open up the main Loyalty Pass screen, displaying a preview of your Loyalty Pass alongside your customization options.
Work through each section to design and configure your pass — these are covered in detail below.
When you're happy with your pass, you can choose to save it as a draft, or click Publish to make it live.
How do you customize Loyalty Passes?
Pass Design
In Pass Design, you can customize the front and back of both your Apple and Google passes. A live preview updates as you make changes, so you can always see exactly what your customers will see.
Add your Pass Name — this is typically the name of your brand.
Add a Push Icon — this is the image that will appear on all push notifications sent from your Loyalty Pass.
Add an Apple logo and a Google logo. Note that each has different sizing requirements.
Colours and Banner
Add an Apple banner and a Google banner. Be aware of the different sizing requirements for each.
Set a background color for your pass.
Optionally, add a Label color — this is only available on the Apple pass.
Customizing banners by tier: If you'd like a different banner for each of your loyalty tiers, you can customize them individually. Any tier without a custom banner will fall back to your default banner.
Select the tier name from the menu.
Toggle on the customized design option.
Follow the same steps above to add a banner and colors for that tier.
Front of pass
Here, you can choose what information is displayed on the front of your pass. You are limited to three pieces of information on both Apple and Google passes.
You can choose from:
Points Balance
Customer Name
Customer Tier
Member Since
None
Pass Details
Pass Details lets you add more information to your pass. This content is shown on the front of the Google pass and the back of the Apple pass.
Add a Program Name — this can be the same as your Pass Name.
Add Customer Properties. You can choose from:
Customer Name
Enrollment Date
Points Balance
Customer Tier
Email
Referral URL
Optionally, add additional links — for example, a link back to your store website.
Optionally, add Custom Fields — these are free-text areas where you can write your own messages for your customers.
When a customer completes the action to download their Loyalty Pass, we'll automatically send them an email with their download link. This email encourages them to add the pass to the wallet of their choice.
On this page, you can customize the content of this email to match your brand voice.
Store locations
You can add your store locations so that customers receive push notifications when they are near one of your stores. You can add up to 10 locations to your Loyalty Pass.
Push notification lock screen messages are only available to customers using the Apple Loyalty Pass.
Choose to either import your store locations from Shopify, or add them manually.
If adding manually, you will need the latitude and longitude of each location.
Optionally, add a personalized lock screen message for each location.
How do your customers download their Loyalty Pass?
To give customers a way to download their pass, you'll need to set up the Install Loyalty Pass rule. This rule will appear in the Rules section of your site, including account extensions. When a customer interacts with the rule, they'll be prompted to enter their email address to receive their download link.
Go to Rules and create the new Install Loyalty Pass rule.
Choose whether the customer should receive points or a reward for installing the pass. Note that any rewards will need to be created before they can be linked to the rule.
Set an approval period, or leave it blank for points or rewards to be given instantly on completion.
Customize your title and notification text.
Customize your Install Page (see below).
Loyalty Pass Install Page
The Install Page is what customers see when they access the rule. From this page, you can also download a QR code unique to your store — great for printing and displaying in-store so customers can scan and sign up as part of their shopping experience.
You can fully customize the Install Page to match your branding:
Add your logo and favicon.
Update all of the copy on the page.
Adjust the colors to match your brand.
