Change the font of your emails

How do I change the font in one of my emails to use a Google font?

First, go to your emails manager and open click on Edit for the email that you want to edit, then click on Design.

Now you need to click on 'Create a new template'. Using the Simple template, give your new template a name and then click Create.

Find the Google fonts API URL for the font you want, e.g. https://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Supermercado+One, making sure that your URL is a working URL.

In the Template HTML box, under the line `<head>` (usually line 5), add this link element:
    <link rel="stylesheet" href="https://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Supermercado+One">
making sure you swap in the google font url you want.

Next, in the style section of the Template HTML Box (the section starting with the line <style type='text/scss'>), find the HTML element you want to edit.
For example, if you wanted to edit the message, find the message element:
And simply add this line:
    font-family: 'Supermercado One';
to the CSS class.

Your message will now look like this:

If you want to edit an element that already has a font-family, like the td element

then all you need to do is add 'Supermercado One' to the front of this list.

Why are my fonts not showing up in the test email?

Please bear in mind that not all web fonts are supported in all browsers, so you should always have a backup font. This also means that the font you have chosen may not work in emails. The best email clients for web fonts in emails are the Apple ones for desktop and mobile. Gmail for desktop and Android handsets have limited support for web fonts in emails.
